Please look at the following two sites -- take the quizzes and share what you learned! If you don't know what an issue is, this would be the time to do just a little research. What are the most important issues to you in the upcoming election? Who is your President?

I was really surprised that I only recieved Obama for one of the the quizzes, he has been my favorite since the start. I realized that this is because I disagree with him on some of the issues that aren't being talked about as much, like the death penalty, and taxes. I think this quiz was very beneficial because many people including myself only get the candidate's views on the "Big" issues, like Iraq and The Right to Choose. Although it helped me understand the candidates any better, it will not change my vote in the election, because he agrees with me on what I think are the most important issues.
i got kucinich on both quizzes. both gravel and obama were fairly high up. i was suprised that obama and clinton didn't have as much in common with me as i thought, although still much more than other candidates such as giuiliani and paul.
would most of you vote for your top candidate? i would deffinetly be happy with kucinich as president, but i wouldn't vote for him if there was a stronger democratic candidate. it's more important to me to have someone i agree with on most things win than vote for my ideal candidate knowing they were probably going to lose and i was just taking a vote away from the other candidate. unfortunatly, thats kinda how our government works.
Although I got Kucinich for both quizzes, I definately would never vote for him. His policies are wonderful, but they're a little too idealistic and extreme. He would never be able to win an election; the fact that he's ran so many times sort of discredits him, and he's much too extreme. Embarrassingly, I don't really know a good amount about the candidates that came up on my quizzes (Dodd, Biden?) so I can't say whether or not I would vote for them. I guess my mind is full with conflicting thoughts on Hilary and Obama, since they seem to be the most prominent. I still havn't formed an opinion about who I would vote for between the two of them, but Obama appeared twice for me so maybe he's the guy!

Based on the fact that all of my results from the 2 quizzes were Democrats AND my mother is a Democrat, I'm pretty sure that would be the party I belong to.
So far, I don't know much about the candidates, but I like Obama a lot. As I told the class (and many people made fun of me!) he was interviewed on the Tyra Show and seemed likeable and dependable. He talked a lot about his family, which I admired.
I am so impressed and excited that 2 of the main Democratic candidates are a woman and an African-American man. It shows just how far we've come (although there is still a lot more to be done). I would be really pleased if either of them are elected.
I will be 18 for the upcoming election, and I am definitely planning on learning more about the current political issues and the standpoints of the candidates in order to make a responsible vote.
i know kucinich and dodd but i have no idea who bidden is. realistically i dont think any of them will be able to win the elction and in the end it will come down to clinton and obama because they are going out and winning the publics vote. I dont think either candidate is good to be truthful but unfortunately thats who it will come down to.
I think that the variations in everyone's two quizzes shows just how vital wording is when asking for a standpoint on an issue. Both quizzes were essentially targeted at the same themes, but the first one was spelled out whereas the second was merely yes/no/no opinion. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out on the road to the election.
first:
1) Kucinich
2) Richardson
3) Edwards
second:
1)Kucinich
2) Gravel
3) Obama
I thought this blog post was definitely a cool activity. It really got me to think about the issues at hand in the upcoming election. I feel that sometimes people are so concerned with what party they're voting for, that they don't even pay attention to the issues and the candidates' stances on those issues.
I noticed that Kucinich was in a lot of the results of my classmates (as well as my own). I thought that was interesting because although he doesn't get as much press time as the democratic frontrunners, apparently a lot of my class agrees with his stances on politics.
I would also like to state that I agree with Lauren's comment on how wording it so particular. Interesting point, Lauren.
first quiz:
1) Kucinich
2) Giuliani
3) Richardson
second quiz:
1) Kucinich
2) Obama
3) Dodd
Kucinich appeared in every single quiz taken so far, which is quite interesting because, as Billy said, he doesn't get nearly as much press time as the frontrunners of the democratic party. To be honest I didn't know anything about him up until this quiz. I thought this acitivity was really interesting in addition to being a great way to incorporate what we've been learning into current politics, such as the same-sex constitutional ban.
First Quiz:
1. Dodd
2. Edwards
3. Kucinich
Second Quiz:
1. Kucinich
2. Gravel
3. Edwards
I don't really know that much about politics and the presidential campaign, but my top two choices based on what I do know would be Giuliani and Edwards, both of whom appeared on either one or both of my quizzes. I noticed that not very many people got these results, which I guess would mean that my political views are different from theirs. I don't really know who most of the candidates are, but this quiz seems pretty accurate as to who I would vote for despite not knowing very much. I thought this was a very fun and insightful activity for the news blog and made it more find out something about yourself and who you agree with.
Before taking these quizzes I hadn't given much thought as to who I would vote for in the 2008 election. As Nora mentioned, Obama and Clinton are clearly the most prominent candidates in the election so far, but i was surprised to see that neither of them showed up to in my top results for the quizzes. I will be 18 three days after the election in 2008 so i will not be able to vote. I almost feel like that is best because i have not taken time to really research the candidates and get to know what their views are. What i found most interesting about the results from the quizzes is that my to picks in results were all democrats. Most members in my family are Republican and I had never really known if i agreed more with Republican or Democratic views. This quiz shows that I must be the black sheep in my family in that i agree with more of the Democratic views.
I was surprised that it was either Edwards or Kucinich as my top picks. I didn't know anything about Kucinich, but after researching i found i agree with him a lot on issues like abortion and gun control. It was interesting that almost everyone got Kucinich as their top candidate.
First quiz:
1. Edwards
2. Richardson
3. Bden
Second quiz:
1. Clinton
2. Edwards
3. Biden
Personally, I would vote for either obama or clinton just because they work nonstop to win the vote of peole, especially since they stand out. Even though I got edwards first for the first quiz, i don't think i would vote for him. I agree with lauren in that the wording of the questions do make a difference in the results that people got. I won't be old enough to vote when the elections arrive but I will be watching my parents while they vote and I will talk about the candidates with them.
I think if I were able to vote, I would vote for Kucinich. Even though his ideas are really extreme and idealistic like nora said, I would rather vote for someone who I agree mostly with, even if he wouldn't win. Since I'm a bit cynical when it comes to politics and politicians, I get the feeling that my vote wouldn't really matter much anyway, and some candidate that I don't really support would win anyway, so I'd rather feel comfortable knowing that I chose who I personally would support.
